What We Do Today
Thinking sustainably isn’t just important to us – it’s a given. We exist to care for a unique cinematic heritage: that of Ingmar Bergman. This responsibility demands more than just good operations – it requires care for both the place we work in and the people who make our work possible.
We work to spread knowledge and culture – this is the very heart of our mission. We do it through exhibitions, the annual Bergman Week, and by supporting new filmmakers in collaboration with SF Studios and the Göteborg Film Festival. Children and youth enjoy free admission to the museum, and our guides share their insights into the power of art, culture, and film. n our creative workshop, children and young people can learn to make animated films and create freely. We are open during school holidays and offer guided tours all year round. Our island and the people who live and work here are important to us, which is why we collaborate as much as we can with other businesses and associations on Fårö and Gotland. We screen brand-new films every Sunday, all year round, and we love our loyal audience who comes here every week.
We strive to make climate-smart choices. During Bergman Week, we use electric cars, our volunteers ride bikes, and we encourage our guests to do the same. We avoid flying when we can – and we buy climate-compensated tickets when we can’t. Thanks to our landlord FUAB, we benefit from solar panels, energy-efficient windows, and charging stations.
When shopping for our café, we prioritize Fårö first, Gotland second, and Sweden third. We cook with what’s available, make use of leftovers, and what little remains goes to the chickens. We use eco-labeled cleaning products, recycle everything we can, and only sell clothing and items that are made to last. Ideally, we want to give visitors experiences – not things.
