Creative Workshop

The creator workshop is open to children and young people who are curious about different artistic means of expression and who playfully want to use them. Here it is free to both play and play theater, dip the brush in the color can or make a movie. In the creator workshop there is both classic and new technology for storytelling with light and sound, animation, pixilation, text and film. There is also a puppet theater scene where you can make performances with hand dolls, with "flat" figures or with puppets. The smaller children can also act on the stage. Dolls and props are created in the workshop, as well as sound and filmed elements for the performances.

The creator workshop was built up as part of the project The child and childhood (2012–2014) funded by the General Heritage Fund. The basic purpose of the project was to give visitors to Bergmancenter also a children's and youth perspective on Ingmar Bergman's artistry. He himself often said that "childhood was his court supplier" when it came to themes for film and theater. Fundamental to the project The child and childhood was the exhibition The salon, which in a visually alive how Ingmar Bergman already as a boy created stories with the help of a Laterna Magica and a model theater. These two "creative tools" form the basis for the Creator Workshop where children, young people and adults themselves can shape and tell with scenic design and moving images.

The creator workshop has, over the years, developed their own pedagogy where children from three to four years created on their own or together with siblings, peers and parents. During the summer season, the creator workshop is open to the public 5 hours/day and during the spring and autumn season there has been a selection of workshops and seminars for different groups of professional adults. From practitioners and researchers on questions about children's and young people's own filmmaking to unaccompanied young people and children, adolescents and adults with experience in home violence or in other situations.

In the creator workshop, experienced educators work who are also professional filmmakers, artists, animators and puppet makers. With their support and inspiration, visitors in the workshop create stories with image, animation, pixilation sound and light. There is also a puppet theater scene where you create performances with handcuffs and other figures. The little children can act on stage themselves. Dolls and props are created in the workshop, as well as sound and filmed elements for the performances. On the Facebook page Creator Workshop on Fårö, films and other materials that children and young people have produced in the workshop are published, with the directors of the directors, of course.
