The film features two pioneers from the golden age of Swedish silent film, actor John Ekman and director and actor Victor Sjöström. For Ekman, the film became his last, while Bergman gave Sjöström another prominent role in Wild Strawberries as the aging professor Isak Borg – a role that was to be Sjöström’s final one.
