The Settlers

Chile's official Oscar submission for 2024 and Felipe Gálvez Haberle's acclaimed debut is described by SvD's reviewer Jakob Åsell as: 'Gálvez Haberle clearly possesses a sharp editor's eye, arriving at this exceptionally well-crafted debut from a long career as a film editor.' Chile 1901. The wealthy landowner José Menéndez hires three men to mark the boundaries of his vast estates and secure a route to the Atlantic for his sheep. The three men consist of a taciturn young Chilean of mixed heritage, a hot-tempered American mercenary, and a scarred British lieutenant. Their mission takes a ruthless turn during the journey across the vast Patagonian landscape.
