Shayda

Shayda; a mother fleeing a violent, abusive husband who threatens to take their daughter, ends up with her at a women’s shelter, after which the two must reconstruct their lives. When her estranged husband re-enters their lives, Shayda's path to freedom is jeopardized. This impressive debut from Australian/Iranian director Noora Niasari boasts of an array of powerful performances.

Played at the Sundance festival where it won the audience's price. Australia’s entry for Best International Feature Film at the 2024 Oscars.
