Mulholland Drive

David Lynch's surreal masterpiece from 2001. After a car wreck on Mulholland Drive renders a woman amnesiac, she and a Hollywood-hopeful search for clues and answers across Los Angeles in a twisting venture beyond dreams and reality.

The actress Elisabeth Vogler stops talking after a perfomance of "Electra" and ceases to react when spoken to. Together with a nurse, Alma, she isolates herself in a cottage on an island. As Alma talks and her patient remains silent, their identities begin to merge.

A Lesson in Love

The gynaecologist David has grown apart from his wife Marianne. He has had an affair with Suzanne, a patient, while she has gone back to her former lover, and David’s best friend, the sculptor Carl-Adam. When Marianne travels to Copenhagen to meet Carl-Adam, David takes the same train while pretending it is a coincidence. As husband and wife spend time together during the journey they discuss the coming divorce and shares memories of their past which ultimately leads to a reconciliation.

Regissören Baker Karim (Glaciär) har gjort en pulshöjande, svettig och skoningslös thriller. Mot en fond av Mombasas undre värld med droger, gangsters och korrupta poliser visar Andrew Mungais närgångna kamera handlingar och konsekvenser. Det är brutalt och naket. Alexander Karim (Gladiator II) briljerar i rollen som MZ. The Dog har ett slut som garanterat inte lämna någon oberörd.

Winter Light (and conversation with Aaron Schimberg)

Tomas Ericsson, the pastor of a small rural church, performs service for a dwindling congregation on a bleak winter sunday. He is suffering from a cold and a severe crisis of faith. After the service, he attempts to console a fisherman who is tormented by fears of nuclear holocaust, but Tomas can only speak about his own troubled relationship with God. Märta, a school teacher offers Tomas her love as consolation for his loss of faith. But Tomas resists her love as desperately as she offers it to him.

The director Aaron Schimberg (A Different Man) chooses a Bergman film. The film screening is followed by a conversation with the director.
