What would you ask if you could meet Ingmar Bergman?
Bergmachine is an artwork where you can converse with, seek advice from — or perhaps have the confrontation you always dreamed of but never got to have with the Demon Director himself. Through a combination of analog technology and the latest in generative AI, the artists explore whether they can bring Bergman’s presence to life. In this interactive installation, antique television sets and speakers interact with several AI models. The work explores power, creativity, and human vulnerability — and allows you to experience the particular mix of fascination and discomfort that could characterize Bergman’s encounters with audiences and collaborators alike. Bergmachine is a collaboration between Hannah Holden, Jens Thoms Ivarsson, Torbjørn Ludvigsen, and Gorki Glaser-Müller.
Bergmachine is open Tuesday to Friday, 1:00 PM–4:00 PM, during Bergman Week. Admission is free; only a festival membership card is required.
At the opening on June 23 at 1:00 PM, a brief introductory talk will be held with Bergmachine’s artistic director, Gorki Glaser-Müller.
