Educational vision
The Bergman Center is constructing an educational branch intended for visitors and groups, from pre-school children, grade and upper secondary school pupils and their teachers, to students, scholars and artists.
The educational content includes exhibitions, film screenings and bus tours to Bergman’s filming locations on Fårö, as well as study days for teachers and grade school pupils and upper secondary school and university level courses – the latter in a collaboration with Gotland University and Dramatiska Institutet. We will also arrange seminars and conferences, separately or in collaboration with other parties.
The wellspring of our work is Ingmar Bergman’s life and artistry, but the Bergman Center will also enfold areas within art and film deemed to be “in the footsteps of Bergman”, with a distinct focus on young and experimental work.
The Bergman Center will offer lectures, seminars and performances where the scholars and artists who visit the center and the Bergman Estate will share their work with a select audience.
In its entirety, the educational work at Bergman Center on Fårö is intended to be characterized by both scope and depth, conveying and enhancing knowledge about Ingmar Bergman’s life and work, as well as about film art in a wider sense, through the unique experiences we can offer here.

The Bergman Week programme is released!
The Belgian filmmaking brothers Dardenne have become the modern fixtures of contemporary European cinema. Although their films are scarce in dialogue, their lyrical portrayals of people on the outskirts of society are unmistakably and uniquely dardennesque. It is with great pride and joy we welcome Jean-Pierre Dardenne and Luc Dardenne as our guests at this year’s edition of the Bergman Week – indeed their first visit to Sweden. Book your tickets here!

Bergman Center receives 3 million SEK
Through 2012 to 2014, The Bergman Center on Fårö arranges Child and Childhood, a project financed by the Swedish Inheritance Fund and Beijerstiftelsen (The Beijer foundation).
The project consists of four building blocks: the Creative Workshop, the Drawing Room (exhibition), Theatre Construction and Learning. The activities are developed in collaboration with children, youths and teachers at Gotland’s pre-schools and schools.
